January 19th, 2014 - Junghans Continues Competition in Winter Extreme
1Chase Junghans resumed action in the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) on Friday night with a $3,000-to-win event. The night started on a strong note for Junghans as he qualified fastest in his group to earn the pole for his heat race. However, from there his luck headed downhill as officials deemed that he jumped the start in his heat race and put him back a row. A few laps later as he battled for the lead he made contact with RC Whitwell, which resulted in a broken front end as he slowed to the infield. Junghans started on the tail of a b-main, but would fall two spots short of advancing to a transfer spot as his night ended early.

The team looked to bounce back on Saturday as a $5,000-to-win program was contested. Unfortunately it would prove to be another tough outing as struggles in qualifying left Chase starting deep in his heat race grid. He would advance a few spots in his heat race and his b-main, but failed to reach a transfer spot to the feature in either event as his night ended on a disappointing note.

The weekend at Tucson drew to a close on Sunday evening with a $10,000-to-win event that drew a field of 52 entries. After qualifying 2nd fastest in his group Chase finished 2nd in his heat race to lock into the 8th starting spot for the 50 lap finale. With passing being difficult on a narrow track Junghans would only manage to advance a single spot to a 7th place finish. Overall it was a strong ending to the week.

January 15th, 2014 - Chase Junghans Competes in Winter Extreme
1Chase Junghans opened his season in his #18 Shop Quik Racing/Capital/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model on Saturday evening at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) during the opening round of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme.

Fifty-seven Super Late Models entered the $3,000-to-win event, and via time trials Junghans earned the 2nd starting spot for his heat race. He would go on to charge to the win in his heat to earn a spot in the redraw for the feature. He received the 2nd starting spot for the finale alongside pole sitter, RC Whitwell. As the race went green Junghans snagged the lead and paced the first lap before Whitwell took over the top spot. Over the remainder of the event Chase battled a tight condition on his entry before crossing the finish line in the 8th position.

On Sunday afternoon a $5,000-to-win purse was posted, but Chase's luck ultimately wouldn't be as good as it was on Saturday. The outing started on a positive note as Junghans recorded the fastest time in his group in qualifications, but with an invert of four in place he was forced to start 4th in his heat race. Track conditions unfortunately didn't allow for any passing, and as a result Chase would fail to qualify for the feature via heat race and b-main action as his night came to an early end.

Wednesday night's program was headlined by a $3,000-to-win event that drew a field of 49 entries to the 3/8 mile oval. Junghans started his night by qualifying 2nd fastest in his group to lock into the 2nd starting spot for the first heat race. He went on to overcame an early race battle to score the victory, which sent him to the redraw for the feature. The redraw presented Junghans with the pole starting position for the 30 lap finale with Billy Moyer joining him on the front row. He ran 2nd during the first half of the feature before Terry Phillips slipped past. Chase founded as far backwards as the 4th position before rebounding to finish 3rd behind race winner, Billy Moyer, and Brandon Sheppard.
