Junghans drives to fifth in Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway
Chase Junghans returned to the driver’s seat of his Junghans Motorsports No. 18 Late Model on Wednesday afternoon for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America-sanctioned One for the Road at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway.
Drawing a stout field of 65 Super Late Models, Junghans got buried in time trials and was never able to recover. Following an eighth-place heat showing, Chase’s night ended with a 10th-to-6th showing in his B-Main.
On Friday, Chase joined 77 World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series entries at the Illinois oval to kick off the 14th annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. With his time trial effort pinning him on the eighth row for his showdown feature, Junghans jumped up five positions to place fourth.
Locked into Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic, Junghans took the green in 15th and drove all the way up to fifth in the 100-lapper. He chased Bobby Pierce, Nick Hoffman, Daulton Wilson, and Mike Marlar to the checkers.
