Chase Junghans notches top-10 finish in Gopher 50 prelim at Deer Creek

Chase Junghans kicked off his Fourth of July weekend with a trip to Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway on Thursday afternoon to compete in the XR Super Series-sanctioned Minnesota Mega.

Aboard his Bozard Ford No. 18 Late Model, Junghans’ seventh-place heat outing relegated him into a B-Main for another shot at the $50,000-to-win A-Main. Needing to place third or better, Chase came one spot short with a sixth-to-fourth outing.

On Thursday, Chase joined the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for a pair of preliminary events leading up to Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50. Following a third-place heat outing, Junghans faded in the 30-lap WoO opener to finish 15th.

The following night, Junghans qualified second-fastest in his group before placing fourth in his heat. Gunning for the $7,000 payday in his preliminary feature, Chase passed six cars in the 30-lapper to register a 10th-place finish.

His Fourth of July weekend concluded on Saturday with a 14th-place finish in the $50,000-to-win NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 finale.
